In 2022, the average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price amounted to $3,674 per ton, increasing by 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,872 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($4,847 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($483 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+20.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 150% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,869 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($6,259 per ton), while the price for Democratic Republic of the Congo ($676 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
