The average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse import price stood at $7,787 per ton in September 2022, shrinking by -8.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $9,570 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($9,846 per ton), while the price for China ($4,286 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price decreased by -31.3% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 55% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $10,083 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($13,902 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($6,749 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+41.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
