In 2022, the average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped amounted to $11,286 per ton, falling by -2.5% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 58%. Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Denmark ($1,000 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,000 per ton) and Hungary ($1,000 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (-6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
