In 2022, the average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped amounted to $11,286 per ton, falling by -2.5% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped decreased by -15.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 58%. The import price peaked at $13,297 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($19,000 per ton), while the price for Italy stood at $10,000 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+22.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price showed a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $62,290 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Denmark ($1,000 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,000 per ton) and Hungary ($1,000 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (-6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
