The average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $5,208 per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $7,784 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Thailand ($5,209 per ton) and Argentina ($5,208 per ton), while the price for France ($5,208 per ton) and Italy ($5,208 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
