In October 2023, the average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped amounted to $8,402 per ton, rising by 13% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,333 per ton), while the price for India ($5,438 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Philippines ($8,833 per ton) and Serbia ($8,351 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($7,042 per ton) and Switzerland ($7,863 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
