In August 2023, the average import price for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone amounted to $292 per ton, rising by 6.3% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from September 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, import price for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by +6.3% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 43% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $302 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Israel ($2,996 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($716 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone stood at $356 per ton in 2022, growing by 23% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.0%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($519 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Tiles, Flagstones and Similar Articles of Cement, Concrete or Artificial Stone in France

In 2022, the amount of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone imported into France dropped to 305K tons, reducing by -4.6% compared with the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 24%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 320K tons, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone contracted to $77M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $78M, leveling off in the following year.
