In November 2023, the average import price for sulphites; other than of sodia amounted to $1,175 per ton, increasing by 75% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 77% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,811 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,370 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for sulphites; other than of sodia stood at $1,043 per ton in 2022, jumping by 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,203 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($659 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+27.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
