The average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $3,152 per ton in November 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Over the last eleven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 23% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,158 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to November 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Zimbabwe ($4,366 per ton), while the average price for exports to Swaziland ($2,437 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Namibia (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $1,409 per ton in 2022, jumping by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,255 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,808 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($414 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
