The average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $3,062 per ton in November 2023, declining by -3.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 5.3% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,303 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,306 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($1,977 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In November 2023, the average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $6,298 per ton, with an increase of 4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,070 per ton. From October 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($13,725 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,996 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 393K tons of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa were exported from China; growing by 29% against 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa soared to $1.3B in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
