The average export price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia stood at $5,871 per ton in 2022, increasing by 55% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia increased by +52.1% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 42%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,930 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,773 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,986 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas shipments of steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia were finally on the rise to reach 18K tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced slump.
