Price for Steel, Alloy; Semi-Finished Products in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price amounted to $5,390 per ton, falling by -9.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, posted a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 117% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,331 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($13,002 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+21.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,659 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($1,100 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
