In March 2022, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price amounted to $2,338 per ton, falling by -31.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 56% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,413 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($4,464 per ton), while the price for Russia stood at $1,672 per ton.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.7%).

The average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price stood at $724 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -24.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 180%. The export price peaked at $1,842 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,287 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland totaled $409 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 3.4K tons of steel, alloy; semi-finished productses were imported into Belarus; growing by 21% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
