The average export price for steel, alloy stood at $1,632 per ton in January 2024, flattening at the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.4% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,867 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($3,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($1,220 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $2,031 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Switzerland.
