The average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $2,950 per ton in August 2023, waning by -4.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,856 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($4,830 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,484 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, the export price, however, saw a deep reduction. The export price peaked at $14,086 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($8,104 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($2,084 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
