In 2022, the average export price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms amounted to $3,757 per ton, picking up by 33% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms increased by +88.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 19% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $5,015 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($7,772 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($2,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+22.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
