Price for Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in the Philippines (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $3.0 per litre, declining by -16.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 149% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4.8 per litre. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($4.6 per litre), while the price for Singapore ($1.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $2 per litre, with an increase of 98% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 1,783%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $30 per litre. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2.6 per litre), while the average price for exports to Macao SAR ($0.6 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in the Philippines

In 2022, purchases abroad of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages decreased by -34% to 9.9M litres, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 80%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20M litres. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages rose remarkably to $23M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $24M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from the Philippines fell sharply to 32K litres in 2022, declining by -71.6% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports recorded a precipitous decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 11%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 235K litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages fell sharply to $64K in 2022. Overall, exports saw a dramatic slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 725%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $3.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
