Price for Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Singapore (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages stood at $21 per litre in 2022, jumping by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages increased by +91.6% against 2017 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($146 per litre), while the price for South Korea ($1.9 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+17.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Singapore (FOB) - 2022

In September 2022, the average export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $34.0 per litre, declining by -18.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 an increase of 129% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $45.6 per litre in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($241 per litre), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($3.7 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Singapore

In 2022, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages into Singapore rose slightly to 12M litres, growing by 4.7% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages soared to $264M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at 8.3M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages shrank to $180M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 9.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $182M, leveling off in the following year.
