Price for Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Poland (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $3.2 per litre, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a slight increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages increased by +1.9% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4.3 per litre in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($6.7 per litre), while the average price for exports to Togo ($756 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Poland (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages stood at $4.0 per litre in September 2023, with a decrease of -1.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 66% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4.8 per litre in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($6.7 per litre), while the price for Finland ($2.2 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Spirits, Liqueurs and Other Spirituous Beverages in Poland

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages, when their volume decreased by -10.6% to 92M litres. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 46%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 103M litres, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages rose sharply to $250M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages stood at $161M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
