In June 2023, the average import price for spices; nutmeg, crushed or ground amounted to $12,864 per ton, declining by -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $13,494 per ton in May 2023, and then declined modestly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($24,631 per ton), while the price for France ($8,752 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The export price peaked at $18,121 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($17,692 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($1,815 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
