The average import price for spices; mace, neither crushed nor ground stood at $20,761 per ton in 2022, which is down by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 81% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $21,742 per ton in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($41,476 per ton), while the price for China ($9,219 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
