The average smoked fish, incl. fillets export price stood at $21,198 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked in August 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Japan ($23,147 per ton) and Australia ($21,641 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($18,569 per ton) and Canada ($21,142 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $21,285 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +0.1% per month.
