In May 2023, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets import price amounted to $15,364 per ton, dropping by -16.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $20,095 per ton. From April 2023 to May 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($31,714 per ton), while the price for Croatia ($2,524 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In May 2023, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets export price amounted to $7,498 per ton, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 40% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $23,623 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($27,830 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($5,560 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Smoked Fish, Incl. Fillets in Italy
