The average smoked fish, incl. fillets export price stood at $9,568 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -16.8% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 31% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $11,699 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($17,384 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($7,297 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets import price amounted to $11,364 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 94% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $14,828 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($32,785 per ton), while the price for Japan amounted to $11,176 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+77.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Smoked Fish, Incl. Fillets in China
In 2022, shipments abroad of smoked fish, incl. fillets decreased by -8.9% to 3.6K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
