In 2022, the average import price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses amounted to $1,274 per ton, growing by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $1,290 per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,399 per ton), while the price for France ($716 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average export price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses amounted to $4,702 per ton, with an increase of 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 236% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($9,885 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($1,461 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Silicates; Commercial Alkali Metal Silicates in the UK
For the third year in a row, the UK recorded decline in purchases abroad of silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses, which decreased by -13.2% to 7.1K tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep reduction. The smallest decline of -9.1% was in 2021.
