In December 2021, the average import price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses amounted to $463 per ton, surging by 31% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated measured growth from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, silicates; commercial alkali metal silicates import price increased by +69.2% against September 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 when the average import price increased by 56% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $479 per ton. From March 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,595 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($314 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $462 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($539 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
