In August 2023, the average import price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses amounted to $800 per ton, picking up by 7.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,022 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,505 per ton), while the price for Poland ($514 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $811 per ton. From April 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($866 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($228 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
