In July 2021, the average sheep and goats; live import price amounted to $171 per unit, flattening at the previous month. In general, the import price recorded resilient growth. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $232 per unit in May 2021; however, from June 2021 to July 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.

From October 2020 to July 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Australia amounted to +5.6% per month.

Imports of Sheep and Goats; Live in the Philippines

In 2022, supplies from abroad of sheep and goats; live decreased by -26.8% to 3K units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 111%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.1K units, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, sheep and goats; live imports fell significantly to $3.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 431% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $5.5M in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
