In 2022, the average sheep and goats; live import price amounted to $65 per unit, which is down by -2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $176 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United Arab Emirates ($84 per unit) and Jordan ($80 per unit), while the price for Somalia ($58 per unit) and Oman ($68 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a resilient increase. The export price peaked at $199 per unit in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
