Price for Residues; of Petroleum Oils or of Oils Obtained from Bituminous Minerals in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses stood at $988 per ton in September 2023, growing by 2.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 18% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,154 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,069 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($510 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average import price for residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses amounted to $1,099 per ton, falling by -3.3% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a measured expansion from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses decreased by -9.6% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 108% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,332 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Malaysia.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +14.7% per month.

Exports of Residues; of Petroleum Oils or of Oils Obtained from Bituminous Minerals in Poland

Exports of residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses from Poland rose sharply to 21K tons in 2022, increasing by 8.9% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of residues; of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous mineralses skyrocketed to $17M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +85.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In general, imports, however, saw a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 37%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 18K tons.
