Price for Quartz; Other than Natural Sands in the United States (FOB) - 2024

The average export price for quartz; other than natural sandses stood at $922 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -19.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 27% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,146 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted rapidly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,496 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($491 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for quartz; other than natural sandses stood at $293 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 6.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated mild growth from February 2023 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, quartz; other than natural sands import price increased by +6.9% against August 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 58% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $417 per ton. From April 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($453 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($195 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, exports of quartz; other than natural sandses from the United States stood at 98K tons, picking up by 4.7% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 141%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, quartz; other than natural sands exports reached $84M in 2022. In general, exports posted a buoyant increase.
