In 2022, the average import price for PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings amounted to $1.2 per square meter, waning by -26.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 30%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2.6 per square meter. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($7.3 per square meter), while the price for Thailand ($0.7 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings amounted to $1.3 per square meter, waning by -11.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings decreased by -26.7% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.8 per square meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($2.7 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Senegal ($0.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of PVC Floor, Wall and Ceiling Coverings in the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings, when their volume decreased by -11% to 41M square meters. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 46M square meters, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings dropped dramatically to $48M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $74M, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Exports of PVC Floor, Wall and Ceiling Coverings in the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, overseas shipments of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings increased by 9.2% to 4M square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at 4.8M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings fell slightly to $5.2M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The exports peaked at $7.9M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
