The average import price for propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses stood at $1,451 per ton in October 2023, with an increase of 5.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 6% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,766 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($2,025 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,159 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses amounted to $1,759 per ton, growing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 60%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,114 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($2,331 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($895 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Propylene, Other Olefin Polymers; Propylene Copolymers in Primary Forms in Ukraine

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses decreased by -44.4% to 11K tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 19K tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses shrank notably to $22M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 86% against the previous year.
