In November 2023, the average import price for propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses amounted to $1,457 per ton, rising by 6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,617 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,977 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,068 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses stood at $1,506 per ton in November 2023, picking up by 2.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 75% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,263 per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($2,907 per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($978 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses, when their volume decreased by -4.2% to 433K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 12%.

In value terms, imports of propylene, other olefin polymers; propylene copolymers in primary formses dropped slightly to $793M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $827M, and then contracted in the following year.
