In 2022, the average import price for propylene, other olefin polymers; polyisobutylene in primary formses amounted to $2,897 per ton, rising by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 36%. The import price peaked at $6,362 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($8,330 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,122 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 49% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,246 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -1.4% per year.

Imports of Propylene, Other Olefin Polymers; Polyisobutylene in Primary Forms in Ukraine

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of propylene, other olefin polymers; polyisobutylene in primary formses decreased by -33.4% to 216 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 89%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 325 tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
