Price for Polypropylene in Primary Forms in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average polypropylene in primary forms export price amounted to $1,262 per ton, increasing by 5.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 19% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,720 per ton. From November 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($1,282 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Dominican Republic totaled $979 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-0.9%).

In September 2023, the average polypropylene in primary forms import price amounted to $1,093 per ton, with an increase of 5.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 10% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,338 per ton. From November 2022 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,036 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($972 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
