Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene export price amounted to $1,989 per ton, surging by 4.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 5.2% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,061 per ton. From January 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,760 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,596 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene import price amounted to $3,008 per ton, jumping by 45% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($10,720 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in the Netherlands
In 2022, overseas shipments of polyolefins other than polypropylene decreased by -8.1% to 832K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5.5% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 946K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, polyolefins other than polypropylene exports shrank slightly to $1.8B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 16%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.8B, leveling off in the following year.
