Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Australia (CIF) - 2023
The average polyolefins other than polypropylene import price stood at $1,290 per ton in December 2023, waning by -10.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,580 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,934 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene export price amounted to $2,455 per ton, with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, polyolefins other than polypropylene export price increased by +71.0% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,479 per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($3,855 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,319 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Australia

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 88% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
