Price for Polymers of Propylene or of Other Olefins, in Primary Forms in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

In October 2023, the average export price for polymers of propylene or of other olefins, in primary formses amounted to $1,477 per ton, shrinking by -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,027 per ton. From April 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Turkey ($1,946 per ton) and the UK ($1,679 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,308 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1,420 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average import price for polymers of propylene or of other olefins, in primary formses amounted to $1,357 per ton, with a decrease of -44.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 22% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,465 per ton, and then fell dramatically in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,624 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,053 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
