In October 2023, the average export price for polymers of propylene or of other olefins, in primary formses amounted to $1,303 per ton, with an increase of 5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,505 per ton. From February 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($1,312 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Dominican Republic stood at $948 per ton.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-1.1%).

In October 2023, the average import price for polymers of propylene or of other olefins, in primary formses amounted to $1,237 per ton, increasing by 2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,313 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,204 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($979 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
