The average import price for plants, live; rhododendrons and azaleas, grafted or nots stood at $4 per unit in 2022, picking up by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5.1 per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($11 per unit), while the price for the Netherlands ($3.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Croatia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of plants, live; rhododendrons and azaleas, grafted or nots, which decreased by -24% to 31K units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a deep slump. The smallest decline of -2.2% was in 2021. Imports peaked at 52K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of plants, live; rhododendrons and azaleas, grafted or nots dropped rapidly to $124K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $147K, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
