In 2022, the average import price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants amounted to $0.2 per unit, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants decreased by -27.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 65%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $0.2 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($0.3 per unit), while the price for India ($0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants amounted to $0.2 per unit, shrinking by -37.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 574%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1.2 per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($1.3 per unit), while the average price for exports to Armenia (less than $0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+17.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants decreased by -46% to 22K units in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 1,138%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 40K units, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants dropped notably to $3.4K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 766%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6.2K, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous curtailment. The exports peaked at 6.8K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants soared to $585 in 2022. In general, exports, however, faced a sharp setback. The exports peaked at $1.8K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
