The average import price for pitch; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses stood at $1,451 per ton in August 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,696 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,702 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,429 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The export price peaked in 2020 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2020, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Qatar ($1,772 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,740 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,656 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($1,674 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
