In 2022, the average import price for pitch; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses amounted to $1,083 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,243 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,073 per ton), while the price for China totaled $1,000 per ton.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Chile.
