The average import price for pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses stood at $535 per ton in May 2023, rising by 2.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $635 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to May 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Estonia.
From June 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Poland amounted to -0.5% per month.

The average export price for pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses stood at $575 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 1.5%. The export price peaked at $575 per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($788 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia stood at $491 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+10.6%).

For the third consecutive year, Ukraine recorded decline in purchases abroad of pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses, which decreased by -58.8% to 6.9K tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -3.3% was in 2021.
In value terms, imports of pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses shrank sharply to $3.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 16%.
