In November 2023, the average import price for pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses amounted to $263 per ton, waning by -2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 264% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $963 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($676 per ton), while the price for China ($86.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
