Price for Photographic Paper, Paperboard and Textiles; Sensitised, Unexposed in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

In November 2023, the average export price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds amounted to $6.2 per square meter, declining by -24.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 52% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $8.2 per square meter in October 2023, and then shrank significantly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($13.0 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($2.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average import price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds amounted to $2.7 per square meter, dropping by -7.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 48% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3.3 per square meter in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3.7 per square meter), while the price for the Netherlands amounted to $2.1 per square meter.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Photographic Paper, Paperboard and Textiles; Sensitised, Unexposed in Hungary

In 2022, approx. 1.3M square meters of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds were exported from Hungary; increasing by 41% against the previous year. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 62%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, exports of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds skyrocketed to $4.5M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
