The average export price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds stood at $2 per square meter in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3.3 per square meter. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3.2 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($1.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds stood at $1.9 per square meter in November 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2.5 per square meter. From February 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($1.9 per square meter), while the price for Italy ($880 per thousand square meters) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Photographic Paper, Paperboard and Textiles; Sensitised, Unexposed in Belgium
For the fourth year in a row, Belgium recorded growth in overseas shipments of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds, which increased by 7.2% to 17M square meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 54%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds rose significantly to $34M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +22.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 17M square meters, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds reduced rapidly to $23M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $40M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
