The average import price for phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses stood at $789 per ton in October 2023, declining by -15.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 15% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,573 per ton. From December 2022 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($2,041 per ton), while the price for Russia ($488 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses amounted to $3,029 per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 44%. The export price peaked at $3,951 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($9,900 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,354 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Romania recorded decline in overseas purchases of phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses, which decreased by -4.4% to 17K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt contraction.
In value terms, imports of phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses soared to $25M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
