The average import price for petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbonses stood at $700 per ton in 2022, growing by 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, faced a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 61%. The import price peaked at $2,554 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($702 per ton), while the price for Argentina amounted to $684 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-2.1%).

Imports of Petroleum Gases and Other Gaseous Hydrocarbons in Paraguay

For the third year in a row, Paraguay recorded decline in supplies from abroad of petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbonses, which decreased by -15.6% to 74K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The smallest decline of less than 0.1% was in 2021.

In value terms, imports of petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbonses declined to $52M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $58M, and then fell in the following year.
