In 2022, the average export price for paper and paperboard, excluding newsprint amounted to $1,138 per ton, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $1,211 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,920 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($988 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for paper and paperboard, excluding newsprint stood at $1,141 per ton in 2022, growing by 7% against the previous year. After three years of growth, shipments abroad of paper and paperboard, excluding newsprint decreased by -8.7% to 2.8M tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
